China Syndrome
This is a fictional movie about a nuclear power plant that experiences a near-meltdown. This incident is then covered up, as the utility company that owns the plant is attempting to procure a license for a second one. A reporter, played by Jane Fonda, is present for the near-meltdown and begins investigating. Eventually, she discovers the plant has additional unreported problems. This movie was released two weeks before the Three Mile Island near-nuclear disaster and played a role in the turning of public opinion against nuclear energy.
