Measuring Abiotic Factors
Outdoor Lab

This is a short lab where students compare a variety of abiotic factors in the area surrounding their school. Depending on the tools available, they can measure temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and sunlight. Suggested areas to try include pavements surfaces like sidewalks and parking lots, grassy mowed areas, unmowed areas, shaded areas under trees, or areas near ponds.

Materials needed: Anemometer/thermometer/hygrometer, light meter
